According to state media reports, North Korean leader Kim Jong has offered Moscow “unconditional support” about the war in Ukraine.
In talks with North Korean Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, Kim said Pyongyang was on “all measures taken by Russian leaders” to address the “root causes of the Ukraine crisis.”
Western officials believe Pyongyang sent an estimated 11,000 troops to Russia last year to fight Ukraine.
Russian President Vladimir Putin began a full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.
According to North Korean provincial media KCNA news agency, Kim and Lavrov met on Saturday in a “vibrant atmosphere of warm comrades.”
The North Korean leader also expressed “a firm belief that the Russian military and its people will certainly win victory in order to achieve a sacred cause that defends the dignity and fundamental interests of the nation.”
On Telegram, the Russian Foreign Ministry posted a video showing two men shaking hands, hugging and greeting them.

Trump told NBC News on Thursday that the US has signed a contract with NATO to send patriot air defense systems to Ukraine via the Alliance after a surge in Russian air attacks.
Pyongyang first confirmed its troops to Russia in April months after Ukraine and the West revealed a massive military move from North Korea to the Russian-Ukraine frontline.
Kim signed with Russian leader Vladimir Putin last June, in partnership with Russian leader Vladimir Putin, agreeing to support each other if any of the countries are dealing with the “attack.”
Apart from the soldiers, North Korea has pledged to send thousands of workers to help rebuild the Russian war-torn Kursk region, Moscow’s security chief said last month.
