The FBI and Minnetonka police say Wagner contacted the FBI Minneapolis field office Monday morning and issued a threat of violence directed at United Healthcare facilities if certain requests were not met.
The Fed said, “There are no indications that individuals have any particular complaints about United Healthcare right now.” That’s notable as United Healthcare CEO Brian Thompson was shot dead in New York City earlier this year, and prosecutors claimed Luigi Mangione pulled the trigger.
The FBI says crisis negotiators spoke to Wagner over the phone…and officials of the FBI Task Force, which is working with Minnetonka police, helped him to detain him after he surrendered.
As we reported… the man claimed he had a gun, asked for $1 million and said he was not alive. Officers say they recovered the firearm from his car.
The incident led to a massive police response to UnitedHealthcare HQ.
