Val Kilmer’s heartbreaking death shocked everyone, especially the organizers of the Beverly Hills Film Festival.
Nino Simone, founder and president of the festival, expressed his shock on Wednesday morning. He explained that it was the weekend that Val confirmed his attendance for the premiere of “Badas in America: Michael Madsen’s Retrospect” on Tuesday night.

Nino said he was excited to support his friend Michael when Val came out…but when it came time for Val’s 7:30pm red carpet arrival, organizers were trying to call and contact the driver.
Simone explained the news that the news of Kilmer’s death had broken at the exact same time, which was incredibly heartbreaking.
Obviously Val is still loved and worshipped in Hollywood, and many celebrities share a heartfelt tribute after her daughter Mercedes confirmed he passed away Tuesday in Los Angeles due to complications from pneumonia.

Val was also a battle with throat cancer, which was diagnosed in 2014. In 2017, he told a Hollywood reporter that he had “sacrifices” to him, leaving him with a ragged voice after tracheal procedures.
