The city of Venice said on Saturday it will host the famous wedding of Amazon founders Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez.
The A-list couple will get married between June 24th and 26th, according to Italian media reports, after almost two years of involvement.
“We work and support organizers with each other to ensure that the event absolutely respects the vulnerability and uniqueness of the city,” Mayor Luigi Burgnaro said in a statement.
“Many speculation and fake news about Jeff Bezos’ wedding are completely unfounded,” the city’s statement added.
According to Venice, only 200 guests will be invited to the wedding.
Italian metropolitan cities have added that “were used to being the setting for events and shows every week without making a major impact,” including the G20 and G7 Summit.
It has also hosted countless different private events and celebrity weddings in the past, including the 2014 fiancee of George and Amal Clooney.
The power couple will send out a wedding invitation at the beginning of March, and will marry the billionaire $500 million yacht according to Page 6.
According to both Italian and international media, Bezos’ wedding organizers have already booked rooms at luxury hotels in Italian cities, and have booked a considerable number of gondolas and water taxis in late June.
Venice denied these reports, claiming that “it is a top priority to ensure that the city functions normally without any unusual confusion for anyone.”
