Wayne Gretzky is suing his former business partner… He earned payday from him, claiming that the woman filed a pure lawsuit against him in 2022.
The NHL legend filed a lawsuit in Los Angeles County this week. About three years after Veera Mahajan sued him for his suspected role in the end of the weight loss gum business called “OMG”.
Mahajan said she jointly invested in the 22nd year lawsuit. After Gretzky claimed he lost 35 pounds in a few weeks after chewing on the product. She claimed that Wayne later admitted he lied about weight loss – and it tanked the business. She sued fraud and sought unspecified damages.
Gretzky filed a lawsuit, and in 2024 she filed to dismiss the case…and the former hockey player argues that she had to fold because the lawsuit was initially frivolous.
Gretzky said he didn’t lie about losing weight – and he insisted that it was certainly not the reason the business failed. He alleges that Mahajan has filed a lawsuit.
Now, Gretzky is suing her for malicious prosecution…and seeking unspecified damages.
This is not the first time that “OMG” has caused Gretzky’s legal headache… The company founder, Steven Sparks, actually sued him on a similar allegation as Mahajan before she filed a complaint. The lawsuit is still ongoing.
