The Elite Eight Field is finished, and the biggest issue of the first species is how USC can survive a matchup with UConn on Monday without Star Guard Juju Watkins. The sophomore left court after injuring his right leg to a Mississippi Sate, and Test revealed an ACL laceration in his right knee.
Without their star players, the Trojans were able to reach the quarterfinals, holding back Kansas 67-61. And the Trojans face the Husky once again on their trip to the Line’s Final Four. The other three matchups are UCLA-LSU, South Carolina Duke and Texas-TCU.
Since the tournament expanded in 1994, the No. 1 seed has won the title 23 times. On the other hand, no. The second seed won four championships and three seeds three times. The latest seed was LSU in 2023, and this year it is the third seed, and the program will compete in the third consecutive Sweet 16.
Perhaps the most dangerous second seed of the year is, of course, UConn. This is the most won program in women’s basketball history with 11 national titles. Geno Auriemma’s team advanced to the 31st consecutive Sweet 16 after scoring 34 points against South Dakota in a dominant 91-57 victory by the Paige Bueckers. The Husky have not won the trophy since 2016, but has now reached 15 of the last 16 Final Fours.
