Yankees catcher JC Eskara clearly believes that anyone barking about New York’s new torpedo bats should pipe down… To TMZ Sports “At the end of the day, you still need to swing the bat and hit the ball with the barrel.”
Of course, the Bronx bombers burned the baseball world this weekend after debuting some shaky bats in a series with the Milwaukee Brewers…and proceeded to hit a bunch of home runs with them in a three-game sweep.
Pinstripe critics took him to a social media page and blow up MLB to allow the Yankees to change the lumber. Let NY slide everything down as the league’s most popular team.
But when he sat with Eskara on Monday – he had a Times Square wand with his mother – he downplayed the issue and pointed out that it was all within the rules of the league…

“People are making that big of a deal now,” he said. “But they’ve been around for a while. We’re not the only ones using them.”
Nevertheless, it appears that Eskara thinks he is at least somewhat effective… as he says after seeing all the successes his teammates have made over the weekend, he will end up using one in the upcoming games.
Incidentally, if you’re new to Eskara’s arrival at the Yankees this year, that’s pretty amazing. The rookie was a longtime minor leaguer and had to actually work as an Uber driver before Aaron Boone was officially on the roster.
It’s a very unique journey and can be made into a film – and check out the interview with the 29-year-old. He has two A-listers that he wants to play once he gets a Hollywood script.
