A total of 95 people arrested on March 31 on allegations of demonstrating against President Mnangawa’s continued assuming office have been denied bail.
The group was accused of appearing before Harare Magistrate Ishenes Matva and participating in an illegal gathering with intent to incite violence.
They were waiting for their bail hearing last week.
Three other suspected protesters arrested the same day have appeared separately.
Denied bail at 95, Matoba said that if the accused is granted bail, they will “reorganize and re-inflict.”
He also said they are a security threat.
March 31, 2025, around 0920, the accused gathered at Robert Mugabe Square, commonly known as the Freedom Square, where Harare intended to march on the streets of Harare, then proceeded to the Zimbabwean state, forcibly eliminating the constitutionally elected President Mnangagwa.
“The accused had vowed to eliminate the president. Madzibaba Veshanduko Huyai Mutitungamirire and his mouth hist with Comrade Geza Huyai Mutitungamirire.”
Police officers deployed to maintain orders observed that around 200 people gathered to approach the group.
“The accused were stacked stones, bricks and tires along Robert Mugabe Road.
“They threw stones at the police officers, singing Hatidi Zbekpihawa Order Nemasassikam.
“They also took photos and videos of themselves that they posted on various social media platforms.”
