The blessed Murangga of Alpha Media Holdings (AMH) journalist will remain in prison after his third bail bid flops on Monday.
Mhlanga had sought bail before Harare Magistrate Donald Ndirowei.
Through lawyer Chris Mike, Muranga said that a month had passed since his arrest and there had been no progress in the investigation.
Mike also told the court that Mhlanga has not interfered with the witness, adding that his family is struggling without him as he is a profiteeer.
However, the state crushed his submissions, claiming that the investigation was complete and that the prosecution was ready for trial.
The chairman supported the state’s argument that determined there was no new situation to guarantee his freedom.
Ndirowei also said it is likely that Mhlanga will rule out whether or not he is allowed to bail.
“The circumstances remain the same in which the court will review the original judgment and guarantee that the defendant will be granted bail. Therefore, the application for bail was denied here,” he ruled.
Murangga has been in prison for the past month after his arrest, allegedly announcing a blessed Geza press conference of a Zanu PF war veteran who is also President Emerson Mnangawa’s opponent.
Geza is currently hiding and sought by police over four criminal charges.
Mhlanga was denied bail when he first appeared in Magistrates’ Court.
He filed an appeal, which was dismissed by High Court Judge Gibson Mandaza.
Mhlanga then returned to the lower court with his current application, but was not in favor of the court.
Anesu Chirenje has indicted.
